|Persepolis moves up to second in IPL||
TEHRAN – The Persepolis football team moved up to second place in the Iranian Professional League (IPL) standings after beating Damash.
On Friday, the Tehran giant beat Damash 2-0 at Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.
Persepolis defender Jalal Hosseini was on target just seconds before the interval.
At the 75th minute, Persepolis midfielder Mehrdad Kafshgari was sent off after receiving his second yellow card.
The visiting team was reduced to 10 men after Mohammad Mokhtari received his second yellow card in the 82nd minute.
One minute later, Hamid Ali-Asker found the back of the net, curling a beautiful right-footed free kick over the wall.
Elsewhere, IPL pacesetter Foolad battled to a 2-2 draw against Tractor Sazi in Tabriz.
Sepahan played out a goalless draw against Saipa in Karaj and Fajr Sepasi defeated Mes 2-1 in Kerman.
Esteghlal will face Naft on Saturday.
Foolad remains at the top of the IPL standings with 26 points, followed by Persepolis at 24 points and Sepahan at 23 points.
