TEHRAN – Iranian prodigy Sardar Azmoun said that he is proud to be mentioned alongside Barcelona midfielder Lionel Messi.
Arsenal is reportedly set to rival AC Milan for the signature of Rubin Kazan's Sardar Azmoun.
The 19-year-old striker moved to the Russian side in January 2013 and has previously revealed his desire to play in the Premier League.
Metro claims Gunners has bid £2 million for Azmoun, dubbed the ‘Iranian Lionel Messi’.
“I don’t know why the English newspapers have compared me to Messi. Maybe it is because of my dribbling style. However, I like Zlatan (Ibrahimovic) more than any other player,” Azmoun told sport newspaper Iran Varzeshi.
“The Arsenal representative talked to me in Marbella Cup through my translator. I’ve also heard Adriano Galliani (AC Milan chief executive) has told an Italian site they consider me as a replacement for Kaka. Milan will start the negotiations within the next few days,” the 19-year-plaer added.
“At the moment, I'm just focused on the remaining part of Russian championship. I still have six months remaining on my contract,” Azmoun stated.
