|Iran football team arrives back from Brazil||
TEHRAN – The Iranian football team returned to Tehran early Saturday after being knocked out of the 2014 World Cup at the group stage.
Team Melli failed to win a single game during a campaign in Brazil.
Iran started its campaign in Group F with a draw against Nigeria.
The courageous Iranian football team lost to Argentina 1-0 in stoppage time. Barcelona striker Lionel Messi scored a superb goal.
Carlos Queiroz’s men were not strong enough to defeat already-eliminated Bosnia and Herzegovina in their last match. Iran lost 3-1 to the World Cup debutant.
After the end of the tournament, Queiroz stepped down as his post, saying he has not received any single concrete or attractive proposal to stay on.
Iran will have to prepare itself for the 2015 AFC Asian Cup, which will be held in Australia from January 9 to 31, 2015.
