The denial comes just days after the Iranian media reported that the federation had requested a friendly match against Team Melli that would be held in the U.S.

“No game has been arranged at this time,” Gulati told Tehran Times correspondent via email.

The Iranian media reported that two teams have reached an agreement to play on American soil on November 19.

Iran was supposed to play the US ahead of the 2014 World Cup.

The U.S. and Iran football teams have played each other just twice -- once at the 1998 World Cup and once in a friendly in Pasadena, Calif. in 2000.

Iran failed to qualify from its group in the 2014 World Cup.
