|FIBA Asia U18 Championship: Iran drawn with Kazakhstan, Bahrain and Kuwait||
TEHRAN – Iran has been pitted against Kazakhstan and Kuwait and Bahrain in the 23rd edition of the FIBA Asia U18 Championship.
The competitions will be held at Doha, Qatar from August 19 to 28.
Bronze medalist of the 22nd FIBA Asia U18 Championship will open its campaign with Bahrain on August 19 in Doha’s Al-Gharafa Stadium.
Host Qatar has opted to play alongside twice reigning – and 10 times overall – gold medallist China, South Asia’s India and South East Asia’s Malaysia in Group A of the Prelim Round competition.
South Korea, who lost to China in the gold medal game at the 22nd FIBA Asia U18 Championship in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia in 2012, is in Group B along with South East Asia champion the Philippines and West Asia’s Jordan.
Group C consists of Iran, Kazakhstan, Bahrain and Kuwait.
The East Asian trio Japan, Chinese Taipei and Hong Kong along with West Asia’s Iraq are in Group D.
The 23rd FIBA Asia U18 Championship is the qualifying event for the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship.
The top three teams from the 23rd FIBA Asia U18 Championship will represent FIBA Asia at the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship.
