|Iran loses to Iraq in U-14 AFC Championship semifinal||
HAMEDAN – Iran lost 3-2 to Iraq in a semifinal match of the U-14 AFC Championship on Monday at Mofatteh Stadium in the western Iranian city of Hamedan.
Zabihollah Koohkan gave the Iranian footballers an early lead in the 7th minute, but Iraq’s Ali Khadim leveled the score in the 11th minute. Two goals by Iraqi striker Mohammad Jalil Mazhar in the 31st and 40th minute turned the game in Iraq's favor.
In the 63rd minute, Taha Shariati scored for Iran, but the team could not get an equalizer in the remaining time.
In the other semifinal match, North Korea made it through to the final by beating traditional rivals South Korea 3-1 in a penalty shootout after regulation time and two extra times ended in a 0-0 tie. The game was played at Hajibabaei Stadium in Hamedan.
North Korea will face Iraq in the final on Wednesday at Hajibabaei Stadium.
