Iran beats Japan in FIBA U18 Championships

The Iranian basketball team defeated Japan 72-65 in the FIBA U18 Championships in Doha, Qatar on Saturday.
 
Mohammad Yousofvand led Iran with 26 points and 13 rebounds.
 
Iran started the campaign with a 132-43 victory over Kuwait and then defeated Kazakhstan 81-56. The team also beat Hong Kong 107–42.  
 
Iran, the bronze medallist at the last edition of the event, will face Chinese Taipei on Sunday. 
 
The 23rd FIBA Asia U18 Championship is the qualifying event for the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship to be played at Crete, Greece.
 
The top three teams from the FIBA Asia U18 Championship will represent FIBA Asia at the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship.
