|Iran’s Mohammadpour claims gold in World Weightlifting Championship||
Saeid Mohammadpour from Iran won the gold medal in the men’s 94kg of the World Junior Weightlifting Championships on Tuesday.
Mohammadpour claimed the gold by lifting175kg in the snatch, 210kg in the clean and jerk and 385kg overall.
Evegny Kolomiets won the silver in the weight category. The Russian hoisted 170kg in the snatch, 205kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 375kg.
Alexandr Zaichikov from Kazakhstan claimed the bronze by lifting 165kg in the snatch, 206kg in the clean and jerk and 371kg overall.
Iran has won three medals in the event so far. Majid Askari has claimed the silver medal in the 56kg class, Jaber Behrouzi won the bronze in the 69kg and Kianoush Rostami seized the gold in the 85kg.
The 37th Men and 17th Women World Junior Weightlifting Championships have brought more than 300 weightlifters from 76 countries together.
