Mustafa Denizli has yet to come to Tehran to head the team in the Iran Professional League (LPI) pre-season. He left Iran about one month ago and has delayed his return due to the personal problems.

Metsu, 58, has been jobless since Qatari club Al Gharafa sacked him in mid-March.

Elsewhere, the UAE media have reported that Metus will replace Diego Maradona in Al Wasl. However, Al Wasl chairman Mohammad Bin Fahad told Gulf News: “They [media] made a mistake. Maradona is the head coach of Al Wasl club and he continues with complete authority for the program.”

Metsu has coached Senegal, the UAE and Qatar national teams as well as French clubs Lille, Valenciennes, Sedan and Al Gharafa of Qatar.
