TEHRAN – Iran will host the next round of Syria talks on April 18-19, ISNA news agency reported on Monday.
TEHRAN - Iran, Russia, and Turkey - the three sponsors of the Syria talks in Astana–– issued a joint statement on Tuesday to set up a trilateral commission to cement and monitor the ceasefire that came into effect in Syria last month.
TEHRAN – Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Wednesday that the negotiations on the settlement of the Syrian armed conflict will begin in Astana, Kazakhstan, on January 23.
TEHRAN – The United Nations special envoy for Syria has expressed support for an initiative brokered by Russia, Iran and Turkey to launch dialogue between the Syrian government and armed opposition groups, IRNA reported.
The Iranian foreign minister personally requested that Egypt attend last weekend’s key Syria talks – a move that has sparked concerns that Cairo is being wooed away from its traditional pro-western stance in the region.
