TEHRAN (Mehr News Agency)--Former Iranian ambassador to Lebanon, Hassan Sobhani said that Imam Musa Sadr was one of the brilliant and valuable figures who was responsible for the revolutionary movement in Lebanon. Therefore, the enemies of Islam hatched a plot in order to hide him. Interviewing with the Mehr News Agency in a ceremony in commemoration of 25-year disappearance of Imam Musa Sadr held by the Amal Movement in Lebanon, he said, "Imam Sadr had a priceless status among the Islamic figures in the Islamic world and he played a key role in promoting awareness among the Lebanese Shias and in eradicating deprivation." Referring to the Sadr's precious status among world political Arab figures, he pointed out "The late Egyptian President Gamal Abdul Nasser (1918-1970) commemorated Sadr's status, saying that Al–Azhar University would be honored to have him as its dean." Sobhani went on to say that Amir Abdullah, Saudi Arabian crown prince once said, "I have never seen a character as intelligent, knowledgeable, and good-tempered as Imam Musa Sadr."

The former ambassador to Lebanon added that it should be clear that his creativity was manifested at a time when the situation of Lebanese Shia community was so critical and instable that the identity of Lebanese Shia in Jebel Amel was on the verge of destruction by Feudalism . In such dire straits, it was Imam Musa Sadr who pioneered a movement which could restore the lost identity of Shia Muslims and created understanding among different factions and religious groups. He also revitalized the resistance and Jihad (crusade against aggressors) against foreign aggression."

Imam Musa Sadr should be considered as the basic pillar of religious and mental evolution in contemporary period in Lebanon, he stated.

The enemies of Islam were afraid of his possible success in fulfillment of his sacred objectives, he concluded.

Imam Musa Sadr, the founder of Amal Movement in Lebanon, traveled to Syria in a formal invitation 25 years ago but he was never seen again.
