PARIS -- Argentina's international defender Juan Pablo Sorin has joined Paris St Germain from Barcelona on a one-season loan deal, the French Ligue 1 club said on its website.

Sorin, 27, is still under contract with Brazilian club Cruzeiro, who loaned him to Lazio and Barcelona last season. Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard decided not to take up the option to buy Sorin at the end of the loan period, Reuters reported.

Sorin, who has 41 caps for Argentina, had a medical on Sunday and will be paired in defense with fellow-Argentine Gabriel Heinze.
