TEHRAN (Mehr News Agency) -– The structural reform of industries has increased the number of people eligible for retirement payments and unemployment insurance, creating a financial crisis for the Social Security Organization (SSO), MP Reza Talaei-Nik of the Majlis Social Commission told the Mehr News Agency here on Saturday.

The Majlis deputy said that part of the funds allocated for structural reform of industries should be used to solve the SSO’s financial problems.

Talaei-Nik went on to say that some industry problems have been solved by making use of modern technology, but other problems have appeared: the unemployment rate has risen due to structural reforms.

He said that when the unemployment rate rises, the SSO has problems meeting the costs of unemployment insurance, adding that the expansion of industrial capacity is the best way to eliminate the negative effects of structural reforms.

He stated that workers made redundant by structural reforms can be employed in industrial units if the production capacity of each industrial unit is expanded.
