Iranian “Red Gold” Wins Chicago Int’l Film Festival
Female Iranian director Tahmineh Milani was participating as a jury member of the competition section.
Florinda Bolkan (Brazilian director), Klaus Eder (head of Munich Festival), Nick Roddick (British cinema critic), John Russell Taylor (British cinema critic) were among the jury members.
The award of the best leading actress went to Ludivine Sagnier in the film “La Petite Lili” directed by Claude Miller from France and best leading actor Pierre Boulanger playing in the film “Monsieur Ibrahim” from France by director Francois Dupeyron.
Taiwanese director Tsai Ming-Liang was selected as the best director for the film “Good Bye Dragon Inn”. Robert Benton, director of The Human Stain, was also one of this year's three Festival Honorees
Several works from Iran, Turkey, India, Bosnia, Taiwan, Germany, Spain, France, England, Denmark, Romania, Portugal and Switzerland were participating in the festival.
Iranian movies “At Five in The Afternoon” by Samira Makhmalbaf, and “Joy of Madness” by Hana Makhmalbaf were also participating in the festival.
