TEHRAN (Mehr News Agency) -- Director Majid Majidi stressed the promotion of Qur’anic culture through cinema and holding festivals and exhibitions with the Holy Qur’an as the main theme.

Majidi who is also a jury member of the “Qur’anic Concepts’ Film and Photography Competition,” described the art of cinema as the best means to promote Qur’anic culture.

A total of 40 documentary, fiction, animation and experimental films will be screened at the “Qur’anic Concepts in Iranian Culture” section. He expressed hope that the films would help portray religious values in the best way possible.

The competition is to be held on the side section of the 11th Qur’an International Exhibition currently underway in Tehran on Hejab St. The jury board includes Abdolhossein Barzideh, Majid Majidi, Mahmoud Arjomand, Reza Mirkarimi and Mojtaba Raei.
