National Book Celebration to Commence Today

TEHRAN (Mehr News Agency) – The book celebration is to be held in December 6-13, 2003 in different cities of the country, the Mehr news agency reported here on Friday.

The 11th round of Book Week will be commenced today (December 6) in the presence of the cultural deputy of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance in one of Tehran high schools, Kamalieh, the News Staff of the 11th Round of Book Week said.

Concurrent with Tehran, a total of 25,000 book exhibitions will be opened all around the country.

Various programs are expected to be carried out at the country’s schools on the first day of the week dubbed “book and student” day by the Ministry of Education, organizer of the first day’s plans.

Among other programs is an educational workshop on information for publishers at the Book House, and a lecture by Dariush Motallebi on how to get information from books.

Holding panels and discussion on the Islamic Revolution and contemporary Islamic movements by the Center for the Study of Islam and Iran, lectures by Dr. Muhammad-Baqer Heshmatzadeh and Kiumars Amiri, as well as holding educational workshop “World Publishers’ approaches to designing websites” on the part of Cultural Department of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance at Tehran Technology Complex are also among the programs of the first day of the book week to be closed on December 13, 2003.
