TEHRAN – After being briefed on the L90 passenger car project based on which the car is planned to be produced in Iran, President Mahmud Ahmadinejad did not express any opposition to the national project, noted the chairman of the Iranian Auto Part Manufacturers Association (IAPMA).

Earlier, when the new government took office, it did not have adequate information on the project because the related authorities had not provided the cabinet members with the required facts however, no one is now against the totality of the L90 project, Mohammad Baqer Rejal said on Monday.

He referred to the project as a national project beneficial to Iran’s auto and automotive industries and noted that, the project would open the gates to the world markets to Iranian auto part producers.

Some 50 percent of the parts used in the car would be manufactured by Iranian producers he stated. He also explained that, the agreement is based on a joint venture investment the terms of which prevent either side of the contract from withdrawing from the project, therefore, it is natural for both sides to express a little reservation about the issue.
