TEHRAN – “Over 120,000 cartons of eggs will be exported to Iraq beginning from January 15,” executive manager of Mihan Central Union of Poultry Breeders Mohammad Mokhtari said here Saturday.
Commenting on bird flu epidemic in Turkey, Mokhtari anticipated that Iraq would soon place additional request for poultry imports from Iran. Moreover, he added that the union is not going to commit itself to the purchase of surplus eggs unless the pertinent expenses like transportation, refrigeration and government aids in cash are met.
“The government ought to come up with practical solutions to stabilize egg price to protect the poultry business against any loss,” he stated. At present, the market price per kilogram of egg fluctuates from 6,300-6,400 rials.
