42% of hand-woven carpets exported to Germany, U.S.

TEHRAN — Some $402m hand-woven carpets were exported during the first eleven months of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2005), said a report released by the Public Relations Dept. of the I. R. of Iran Customs Administration.
Among the target states, Germany and the U.S. stand the first and the second respectively, constituting 42 percent of the whole export. Italy, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Japan stand next correspondingly.
The whole export of the Iranian hand-woven carpets to the mentioned countries values at over $268 million in this period.
This year export of the hand-woven carpets has declined by 9.7 percent compared with the corresponding period last year.
According to the same report, export of the handicrafts hit $504 million in the first eleven months of this year, indicating 0.7 percent decrease compared with the similar period last year.
