Iran sturgeon catch quota for 2007 to drop by 10%
The quota of sturgeon catch for Russia was established at the rate of 286.5 tons (increased by 11.4 %), Iran - 450 tons (decreased by 10 %), Kazakhstan - 182.5 tons (decreased by 6.4 %). Quotas for Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan remained unchanged - 90 tons and 62 tons accordingly.
According to the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the discussion of division of sturgeon catch quotas proceeded for four days. The parties could not come to the common opinion in Astana (on November 20-22).
The strategic plan on joint management, protection and effective utilization of water bio resources in 2007 - 2009 was accepted in Moscow. The commission heard the report of the working group on creation of the international complex on reproduction of valuable breeds of fish.
All materials have been directed to CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna) Secretary for export quotas of black caviar and meat sturgeon for 2007 ratification.
