Malaysian Co. starts construction of residential units in Parand

TEHRAN — Ali-Akbar Aqaii, chairman of the Majlis (Iranian Parliament) Civil Engineering Committee told the Mehr News Agency the contract on construction of more 10,000 residential units in the newly established town of Parand, in Tehran Province, was signed with a Malaysian company.

The MP explained that Iran has already signed a contract with the Malaysian company on construction of 10,000 residential units in Parand, which is being implemented.

The new contract will be carried out in cooperation with the Iranian private and cooperatives sectors, the official further explained.

The lawmaker also said that the company is presently carrying out the preliminary operations and equipping the workshops for building the whole residential units agreed in the two contracts.

Aqaii went on to say, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has pledged to deliver the units to the demanders at the appropriate price once construction of them is completed.

He described progress of the housing private and cooperative companies as eye-catching as far as the quality and the cost price of houses are concerned, saying, this accelerates process of improvement in the newly established towns.

According to Mehr, Iranian Minister of Housing Mohammad Saiidi-Kia, in a visit already paid to Malaysia, said that the Malaysian companies could invest in Iran’s housing sector, given the Islamic Republic’s Fourth Five-Year Development Plan and necessity of mass-housing construction.

As a result of the mutual readiness on cooperation in the housing sector, the ministers signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) and a contract on construction of residential units in the Iranian newly established towns of Hashtgerd and Parand.

Ali Mo’ayyedi, another member of the Majlis Civil Engineering Committee also told the agency Iran is making more contracts with the foreign companies on distribution of facilities and resolving problems in the newly established towns.
