BERLIN (IRNA) -- World football body FIFA has warned Mexican trainer Ricardo La Volpe for smoking on the coaching bench during his team's 3-1 opening victory against Group D rivals Iran on Sunday in Nuremberg.

"We have seen a video recording and noticed it is true," DPA quoted FIFA media director Markus Siegler as saying in Berlin on Tuesday.

FIFA has already sent a letter to the Mexican Football Federation, reminding it of the smoking-ban rules and La Volpe's role model function for football fans.
