Iran’s IGU membership, an exceptional opportunity
Dr. Saeed Pakseresht told Petroenergy Information Network that IGU is one of the creditable world forums in the field of gas and 70 countries are currently its members and now the Islamic Republic of Iran is being represented by the NIGC.
The official opined that Iran is member of one of the ten committees of the union where acceptance of new members will only be possible through consent of all members.
Pakseresht stated that the union convenes every three years in a member country and hosting those meetings is a credit for members.
“Argentina and Malaysia will host the next meetings of IGU in 2009 and 2012 and Iran should made more efforts to be one of its future hosts,” he said.
The official also stated that Iran’s presence as a member in one of the union’s committees is a big privilege, which will make our country interact with other countries enjoying gas technology.
Director of research and technology of the National Iranian Gas Company stated that world gas forum will be held in the Netherlands during the current year and Iran will take part in the forum by presenting five papers on various aspects of gas industry.
