Iranian director to stage Sartre drama
TEHRAN -- Iranian director and actress Maryam Motaref plans to stage French philosopher, dramatist, and novelist Jean-Paul Sartre’s “Les séquestrés d'Altona” (“The Condemned of Altona”, 1959) at the main hall of Tehran’s City Theater in September.
Motaref has shortened the play, which is to be performed by actors Behnaz Jafari, Mikaiil Shahrestani, Maryam Kazemi, and Nima Reiisi.
Wilde’s “Happy Prince” to come to Iran
TEHRAN -- Iranian director Maryam Moini plans to stage a puppet show based on Irish wit, poet, and dramatist Oscar Wilde’s “The Happy Prince and Other Tales” (1888) at the 10th Student Puppet Show Festival in December.
Moini has named the puppet show “I Dreamt That It Is Raining Pieces of the Moon”, and playwrights Moini and Tala Motazedi wrote the adaptation.
Dhaka to exhibit works of Iranian women painters
TEHRAN -- The Dhaka Museum of Contemporary Art will be displaying works of eight Iranian women painters in an exhibition that opens today.
The Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art has sent works of Mahvash Soheili, Shahla Mahjubi, Mojgan Hosseini, Farzan Farzam, Maryam Mohseni, Afsaneh Bin-Jamali, and Fereshteh Moqtader to the exhibition, which will run until July 21.
