Govt. intent on reducing inflation: Ahmadinejad
Speaking at a cabinet session also attended by provincial governor generals, Ahmadinejad stated that the government intends to reduce interest rates, stabilize prices, decrease the government’s managerial costs, and support the private sector.
“In the government’s eyes, the private sector is the people, not a certain group, and it is seeking to reduce its share in the economy to give the production opportunities to the people,” he added.
The government will not allow the people to be pressured by certain political-economic games and controversies, the president vowed.
The government is to provide investment opportunities to the masses by implementing the privatization plan announced by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on July 2, he noted.
The plan aims to privatize state industries by amending Article 44 of the Constitution that has banned private ownership of state institutions.
“The government will not allow a certain group to take hold of the public wealth. Rather, it has devised plans to sell the shares to the people,” Ahmadinejad said.
“We are serious about providing the people their rights,” he added.
