Committee starts spotting site for Ardebil petrochemical project

TEHRAN – A special committee formed by executive organizations is engaged in site selection for implementing the Ardebil petrochemical project under the direct supervision of top provincial authorities, Ardebil Governor-General Ali Nikzad announced on Monday.
The project is one of main infrastructure plans in the province, said Nikzad, adding, “Based on preliminary assessments, it requires 500 billion rials (55 million dollars) worth of investment and is expected to create numerous direct and indirect job opportunities in the region.
“The initial stage of production needs 600,000 cubic meters of natural gas per day as well as 170 liters of water per second. Planning and supplying utilities with a host of other related details are coordinated with the respective ministries.”
A gas power station is abuilding in the area to meet the plant’s electricity requirement.
