TEHRAN -- Alireza Navvab Kashani, a publisher in central capital Qom, believes that book distribution is not developed in Iran as distributors are eking out an income.

The director of Nosus Publications, who talked to the MNA Saturday, added, “Some 50 to 55 percent of the book price goes to the publisher in Europe and the United States, but the figure in Iran is between 30 and 35. “Still, the task, thanks to low print run in the country, is not profitable.”

He complained that books are not distributed properly in most Iranian cities and even Tehran’s bookstores are not active enough.

The book distribution institutes mostly pay attention to bestsellers and ignore other books, noted the publisher.
