LONDON (Reuters) -- Hurricane Run, who would normally have been ridden by Kieren Fallon, produced a dazzling late burst to win the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.

Partnered by French champion Christophe Soumillon, the 5-6 favorite beat Dubai World Cup winner Electrocutionist (4-1) by half a length.

Japanese champion Heart's Cry (3-1) finished the same distance away in third place in a small but select six-strong field for the mid-season highlight of the European calendar.

Hurricane Run is trained in France by Andre Fabre for owner Michael Tabor from the Coolmore conglomerate which employs Fallon.

The Irishman has been banned from riding in Britain after being charged with conspiracy to defraud following a police investigation. He failed on Friday in a High Court bid to have the ban overturned, but can still ride in Ireland and France.

In 2005, Fallon partnered Hurricane Run to victory in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp in Paris.
