TEHRAN – Animator Nureddin Zarrinkelk is convinced that the painters and artists collaborating with animators need more support to gain their rights.

Speaking to the MNA Wednesday, he said that the performance of the ninth government in the past year cannot be described in a few sentences, but visual arts such as graphic design and sculpture have developed somehow.

“Concerning animation, the designers, visual artists, and painters have played major roles though they have been less supported.

“The Association Internationale du Film d'Animation (ASIFA, International Animated Film Association) always supports active animators and designers, that is, the support is not only limited to directors, and designers as painters also get their rights. “I believe the artists involved in animation will be more encouraged if supported. I also try to define their job in the visual arts field. The Association of Graphic Designers should also give a room to these artists in its job categories to help them get their rights more easily.”

Zarrinkelk, the father of Iranian animation, is the ASIFA president.
