FM confers with Indian ambassador

TEHRAN (Fars News Agency) -- Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki met and conferred with Indian Ambassador to Tehran Manbir Sing here in Tehran on Sunday.

A statement released by the Foreign Ministry's Information and Press Bureau said that during the meeting, Mottaki viewed the two countries' trend of cooperation as growing and expressed the hope that the two sides' cooperation would further develop in all the various bilateral, regional and international areas.

He said Iran attaches special significance to relations with India, adding that during his upcoming visit to that country, the two sides would discuss the most important political and economic issues, including the latest regional developments, and the two countries' joint venture projects, specially in the energy and transportation sector.

For his part, the Indian Ambassador to Tehran expressed pleasure with the upcoming visit to his country by Iranian foreign minister and stressed the necessity for increased exchange of views by the two countries in the different bilateral, regional and international spheres.

He described Mottaki's visit to India as a proper opportunity for the exchange of views by the two countries' senior officials in the political and economic spheres.

The Iranian foreign minister is due to attend meetings with senior Indian officials during his visit to that country, including the Indian prime minister and foreign minister.
