Metal exports fetched Iran over $2b in ’06

TEHRAN – Iran exported $2,015,699,000 worth of basic metals in last Iranian calendar year (ended on March 20, 2007), the Customs Administrations reported on Sunday.

The figure showed a 27.2 percent rise when compared to that of its preceding year.

Metals accounted for nine percent and 12.8 percent of non-oil exports in terms of weight and value respectively in the yearlong period.

Totally 3,025,726 tons of metals were exported last year which, showing a 2.8 percent rise.

The country earned $1,100,329,000 through exports of iron and steel, indicting a 4.2 percent growth.

After iron and steel, copper ingot, copper products, and aluminum were the main metals exported in the previous year.
