Gasoline rationing to start June 22: MP
He quoted Interior Minister Mostafa Purmohammadi as saying that gasoline would be rationed in three stages.
First Vice Speaker Mohammadreza Bahonar proposed that the three stages would be put into action within two weeks and the minister agreed.
Purmohammadi said the problems facing fuel smart card were being solved. On May 22, Mostafa Purmohammadi told reporters, “All the smart cards will be distributed in the next 10-15 days making it possible to commence the rationing scheme.“
Shahbazkhani added there was a concern over the government’s failure to enforce the rationing plan in two weeks.
He said the conditions were not appropriate for enforcing the rationing law.
Kamal Daneshyar told reporters that people would face scores of problems if the law took effect under current circumstances.
He had already said Majlis might scrap the plan to ration gasoline.
Daneshyar added that lawmakers were mulling a proposal on a double-urgency plan to delay or even do away with gasoline rationing.
His remarks came a few days after the interior minister said gasoline rationing scheme will be implemented in two weeks.
Hamidreza Haj-Babaii, a member of Majlis Presiding Board, said the Islamic Consultative Assembly and government had done their best and lack of infrastructures was to blame for the delay in enforcement of the law.
