Iran to offer proposals at IPU meeting: Majlis speaker

TEHRAN (IRNA) -- Iranian Parliament Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel said on Sunday that he will present Iran's proposals as urgent plans at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

Haddad-Adel made the remarks while leaving Tehran for Geneva, noting that he is to take part at the autumn meeting of the international union, which is one of the oldest and largest organizations worldwide.
He is scheduled to propose urgent plans, which are usually offered by IPU member states and ratified by others.
Pointing to the three visits of IPU secretary general to Tehran, he said that the official underlined the need for presence of Iran at the autumn meeting of the union.
The Majlis speaker also said that IPU is to play an active role in restructuring the United Nations, and that the union has formed a committee to follow up the subject.
He will hold talks with speakers and MPs of member states on the sidelines of IPU conference.
IPU conference in Geneva will also introduce the Asian Parliaments Union headed by Iran.
In the meantime, Haddad-Adel will pay a visit to Bosnia Herzegovina to strengthen bilateral ties between the two friendly nations.
