“Death and the Poet” to be staged in Bombay and New Delhi

TEHRAN -- The play “Death and the Poet” written by Naghmeh Samini and directed by Kiumars Moradi is to be staged at an annual festival organized by the Indian National School of Drama (N.S.D.) in January 2008.
The Indian premier of the play will take place in Bombay on January 13, Moradi told MNA, adding that a question and answer panel will be held after the performance in which the audience will be able to participate.The play will also be staged on January 16 in New Delhi which is home to the Indian National School of Drama, and on January 17 the cast will participate in a session organized by students of the drama school, Moradi added.
Moradi also explained that the drama school has held the festival every January in New Delhi, but for the past two years foreign entries have been given the opportunity to stage their plays in other Indian cities as well.
“Death and the Poet” was staged last winter at the Qashqaii Hall of the City Theater Complex in Tehran and is the fourth Iranian entry at the N.S.D. Festival. Other entries have been “Dream in an Empty Cup”, “Mimic” and “Julius Caesar”.
