Tehran mayor delays Baghdad visit

January 12, 2008

TEHRAN (PressTV) -- Tehran Mayor Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf postpones his visit to Iraq which was scheduled for Friday, an informed source in Baghdad says.

Mayor Qalibaf delayed his visit to Baghdad due to bad weather and “the need felt for his presence in Tehran,” the source told IRNA.
An unprecedented cold spell followed by heavy snowfall blanketed most Iranian cities, including the capital.
Qalibaf was invited on a three-day visit by the Baghdad municipality to meet with senior Iraqi officials and tour various areas.
The visit is in response to a trip to Tehran in July last year by Baghdad Mayor Sabir Isawi.
