TEHRAN -- Netherlands-based Iraqi translator Mohammad Al-Amin plans to translate Abbas Marufi’s novel “The Symphony of the Dead” from Persian into Arabic.

Abbas Marufi, who was born in Tehran in 1957, is an Iranian novelist and journalist and “The Symphony of the Dead” is his most famous book.
Raised and educated in Tehran, Marufi studied dramatic arts at Tehran University. His first published work was a collection of short stories entitled “Into the Sun”. He also wrote a few plays which were performed on stage. His last collection of short stories, “The Scent of Jasmine”, was also published in the United States.
Al-Amin recently completed an Arabic translation of Reza Amirkhani’s book “His Ego” which will be published this spring.
Al-Amin’s Arabic translation of Sohrab Sepehri’s “Water’s Footsteps” is available on the Internet.
He has also collected a number of poems by Forugh Farrokhzad published in Arabic language dailies over the past 15 years and will publish them in a book in the Netherlands.
His Arabic translation of poems by 40 Iranian and Afghan poets entitled “A Selection of Iranian and Afghan Contemporary Poetry” is also on the Internet.
