TEHRAN (Press TV) -- The Iranian beach football team is slated to play against the United Arab Emirates at the Asian Beach Soccer World Cup 2008 qualifiers.

The defending champions UAE beat China 5-0 on Thursday to meet Iran in the semifinal on Friday evening.
The Iranian team, coached by Farshad Falahatzadeh and Behzad Dadashzadeh, was defeated by Japan 2-1 in penalty shots on Thursday.
Iran had won the Philippines 5-2 in its first match on Wednesday.
Six Asian nations - Iran, China, Uzbekistan, Japan, Philippines and the United Arab Emirates - have participated in the event in Jumeirah Beach Park for three slots in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2008 to be held in Marseille, France, next July.
