Regional countries benefit from expansion of ties with Iran: Syrian official

DAMASCUS (IRNA) -- Head of Foreign Policy Committee of Syrian Majlis al-Shaab (People’s Assembly) Suleiman Haddad said on Sunday that expansion of ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran would benefit all regional countries.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Iran’s Charged’ Affaires to Damascus Abdul Hadi Boroujerdi.
At the meeting, Haddad said the senior Syrian officials are determined to broaden all-out relations with Iran.
Ties between Damascus and Tehran are very strong and deep-rooted, he underlined.
He is to pay an official visit to Iran in future upon an invitation by his Iranian counterpart, he said.
The Iranian diplomat, for his part, called the two sides’relations as strategic, adding that such relations could turn into a model for other countries in the region.
The two sides also expressed satisfaction with the excellent ties between the two countries and explored avenues for further bolstering of political, economic, cultural and parliamentary ties between the two countries.
