SHIRAZ -- Moghavemat Sepasi of Shiraz football team stormed to a 4-1 victory over Esteghlal in the 27th week of the Iran Professional League (IPL) on Wednesday.

In front of around 30,000 spectators in Shiraz’s Hafezieh Stadium, 10th-placed Moghavemat thrashed IPL leaders in an unforgettable day.
Moghavemat went ahead when Mostafa Sabri’s header past Esteghlal keeper Vahid Taleblu in the 30th minute.
Mohammad Iranpourian doubled the score in the 35th minute. His well-aimed shot went into the angle of Taleblu’s right post.
Amin Motavessalzadeh got himself on the score sheet in the 67th minute. He escaped Esteghlal’s offside trap and opened the goal.
Esteghlal’s Abbasfard scored a consolation goal with a header in the 71st minute. The visitors put Moghavemat under pressure afterward but failed to score again.
Ali Mombeini’s extra time goal rubbed salts into Esteghlal’s wounds. He opened the goal with a powerful shot from close range.
Esteghlal still remains on top of the table with 53 points as mid-table Moghavemat has 39 points.
