Some disasters caused by certain hegemonic states

TEHRAN (IRNA) – Some of the present disasters had no natural causes but were instead resulted from expansionism of certain hegemonic states, First Vice-President Parviz Davoudi said on Tuesday.

Addressing a national gathering on the occasion of the World Health Day (April 7), the official said the hegemonic and expansionist policies of certain states have caused some of the recent global disasters including those taking place in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The WHO is today celebrating World Health Day by focusing attention on the large numbers of lives that can be saved during earthquakes, floods, conflicts and other emergencies through better design and construction of health facilities and by preparing and training health staff.
“The war on Iraq has cost 1,000 billion dollars while that on Afghanistan has cost 200 billion dollars,” Davoudi said.
He stressed that the U.S. has spent some 160 billion dollars in Afghanistan in 2008 which was equal to 90 percent of the world’s budget to encounter natural disasters.
Hegemonic powers were responsible for most of the current disasters worldwide, Davoudi said, adding that those states have produced most of the world’s contaminating materials while they were not even a member of the international bodies which fight against contamination.
