TEHRNA -- MP Hamidreza Hajbabaii has announced that a proposal for merging or disbanding certain ministries is to be presented to parliament on Tuesday.

If the proposal is approved by the Majlis, the administration will have to amalgamate or disband some ministries to reduce their number to 16 by July 22, Hajbabaii told the Mehr News Agency on Monday.
Eight lawmakers drafted the plan, which is meant to increase efficiency, reduce expenditures, improve and upgrade the delivery of services by governmental offices, and rightsize the administration, said the MP, who is also a member of the Majlis Presiding Board
