TEHRAN (FNA) - A senior Iranian legislator reiterated on Sunday that the U.S. has raised the issue of the alleged military nuclear studies by Iran in a bid to wage a psychological war against Iran.
“We do not believe in the existence of such documents at all. We know that Americans do not believe in their allegation and are just seeking to form a psychological atmosphere against Iran through such allegations,” member of the parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Esmail Kowsari told FNA.The U.S. has claimed it has documents which shows that Iran’s nuclear program is illegal, he said, and added, “And Tehran has repeatedly asked for access to these documents in order to be able to answer the U.S. claims.”
Tehran says the files have been “fabricated” and it has asked for the original documents to be able to respond to the allegations. But, the United States has so far refrained from presenting the alleged documents to the Islamic Republic.
In his latest report on Iran’s nuclear activities, International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Mohamed ElBaradei has pointed to the same problem, saying, “The Director General (Mohamed ElBaradei) urges member states which have provided documentation to the agency to work out new modalities with the agency so that it could share further information with Iran since the agency’s inability to share additional information with Iran, and to provide copies or, if possible, originals, is making it difficult for the agency to progress further in its verification.”
Commenting on ElBaradei’s new report on Iran, Kowsari noted, “Since the very beginning, we have said that we are acting in the framework of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), and thus far, it has been proved to the agency through continued inspections and installed cameras or even through satellite images that Iran has nothing to hide.”
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced in its latest report on Iran’s nuclear program that the UN body has not observed any diversion in Iran’s declared nuclear materials and activities.
