Elegy for a great photojournalist and dear colleague
July 19, 2009 - 0:0
Mojtaba Takin, all your colleagues at the Tehran Times and the Mehr News Agency are giving each other mournful glances, some are weeping, and others are holding back tears.
Nobody talks; all are confused and perplexed. There is silence. Your demise and the sad death of your wife and daughter has not only shaken the media community but has also affected the press departments of the Majlis, the Ahmadinejad administration, the Culture and Islamic Guidance Ministry, the Tehran Municipality, and a number of other government institutions.Mojtaba, you were known for your calm manner and patience. Everyone knew you loved your young daughter and family very much. Witnesses say you sought help, but moments after you realized that your little girl had died, you also closed your eyes to this world forever.
All three members of Takin’s family have left this world together, as if none could bear the loss of one of the others.
Mojtaba you were special, more than special, you were very moral and affable. It is very difficult to write a report about your tragic death. You yourself spent 20 years capturing events through the lens of your camera, including events that were part of Iran’s political life and history, but now your photojournalist colleagues are waiting to capture the scenes of your burial and weep over your body.
Rest in peace, dear friend.
