Tehran, Gorgan to host Ashura Rites Meeting

TEHRAN -- The 6th Ashura Rites Meeting will be held from December 22 to January 2 in Tehran and the northern city of Gorgan.
Plays in Tehran will go on stage from December 22 until late January at the Sangelaj and Molavi halls and probably also at the Iranshahr, the secretary of the meeting Rahmat Amini mentioned during a press conference on Saturday.The Vahdat Hall will host Hossein Mosafer’s “In Moon’s Frame”, written by Hamid Azarang, from December 22 to January 15, he mentioned.
The Conference Hall of Tehran’s City Theater will host educational seminars and play reading sessions on December 28 and 29 in the morning, he said.
The section dedicated to tazieh (Iranian Passion Play) will be held in the open area of the City Theater Complex from December 20 to 27, he said.
Amini went on to say that 17 works will be performed at the Muharram’s Dramatic Rituals Section in the open area of the complex as well.
Azam Borujerdi, Saeid Asadi and Saeid Shapuri are the jury members responsible for selecting dramas, he said.
Ali Nasirian, Hamidreza Afshar and Saeid Kashan Fallah are the jury members for on-stage performance, he added.
A total of 11 troupes participated at the previous edition of the gala and this year, 14 participants will be staging their works at the event, the convocation’s director Gholamreza Montazeri mentioned at the press conference.
Gorgan’s Taha, Fakhreddin As’ad Gorgani halls and Kordkuy’s Shahid Beheshti Hall will host the plays in Golestan Province, he concluded.
