UAE team is on right track, says Zidane

French football legend Zinedine Zidane has been impressed by the progress UAE football team has made in recent years.

Speaking at the Dubai Sports Conference, the Algerian-born star noted that the UAE have followed in the footsteps of the countries which adopted professionalism and benefited from the experience.
“UAE is planning a successful experiment whether in its previous actions or future plans and the future is promising,” he commented.
Regarding the chances of the Algerian national team in South Africa 2010, Zidane said the African Cup of Nations is a big test for the ‘Greens’ ahead of their World Cup campaign.
“A good performance in the CAN will give the players a strong push to excel in the World Cup finals.
“I will be following the performances of the Algerian team with great interest during their matches at both events,” he promised.
Meanwhile, the Dubai Sports Conference on the challenges of professionalism was officially inaugurated on Saturday morning. The experts and legends of the sport from all over the world will hold discussions of the issue of professionalism over three days. Decision makers at all sports levels worldwide plus international clubs and Fifa agents will attend and take part in the discussions.
