Iran’s Greco-Roman wrestling head coach Mohammad Bana said on Tuesday that he didn’t expect his team to win the championship of the 2010 World Cup.

Iran beat Turkey 4-3 on Sunday and claimed the championship for the first time in wrestling history.
“I am happy to win the world championship in Armenia. We were not well-prepared for the tournament and I didn’t think we would win the title,” Bana said.
“Our wrestlers put up a good performance in the 2010 Greco-Roman Wrestling World Cup and I am satisfied with what they did in the tournament. Iran has to concentrate on the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou and the 2012 London Olympic Games,” he added.
“We are going to give opportunity to our young wrestlers. Raphael Martinetti President of FILA and the other coaches congratulated us on winning the title. We owe this championship to the Iranian coaches who trained the wrestlers,” Bana concluded.
