10th ICAO regional meeting to commence in Tehran

TEHRAN – Iran Civil Aviation Organization spokesman said that the tenth meeting of the specialized agency for regional supervision related to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) will open in Tehran today.

Reza Jafarzadeh said the purpose of the meeting is to discuss supervision over flights in the 29,000 to 41,000 foot range.
Other issues on the agenda include equipping planes with more precise altimeters and inspecting their flying reliability, the official stated.
He pointed out that Iraq, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, the UAE, Jordan Yemen and Lebanon have taken part in ICAO’s Middle East countries’ gathering.
ICAO is a specialized agency of the United Nations which codifies the principles and techniques of international air navigation and fosters the planning and development of international air transport to ensure safe and orderly growth.
The ICAO Council adopts standards and recommended practices concerning air navigation, its infrastructure, flight inspection, prevention of unlawful interference, and facilitation of border-crossing procedures for international civil aviation.
In addition, the ICAO defines the protocols for air accident investigation followed by transport safety authorities in countries signatory to the Convention on International Civil Aviation, commonly known as the Chicago Convention
