Leading articles:
KAYHAN editorialist has made some proposals for breaking the blockade on Gaza. First, Iran should officially announce that it has decided to regularly send ships to the Gaza Strip and also should call on other Islamic countries to join the campaign. In this way, Israel is placed under a strong political pressure to end the siege. Second, attempts to break the blockade from the sea are not enough and the Islamic countries should use other ways. Gaza has an international airport, and the Islamic countries should officially announce that they seek to resume flights to Gaza to put Israel under further pressure. Probably, the Zionists will fire at the first Gaza-bound planes and force them to land in the Israeli airports, but they can’t continue to face the Islamic countries’ planes in this way for a long time. Third, the Islamic countries should support Israel’s neighbors in dealing with Zionists. For example, Syria can set a deadline for Israel to end the siege of Gaza, and says if Israel misses the deadline, Syria reserves the right to take military action to retake its occupied lands from the Zionists.
RESALAT in its editorial has warned about the repercussions of the disrespect to Hassan Khomeini, Imam Khomeini’s grandson, during his speech at Imam’s mausoleum last week. The writer believes that the norms should be observed. Officials should respect people and people should respect officials and political groups should observe the code of ethics. It seems that some norms are crumbling in the society. Officials and elites should watch their behaviors and actions in order not to prepare the ground for some people to go beyond the boundaries of ethics and norms. The writer also warns those who easily break the boundaries due to their political interests or because they think an official has deviated from the right path should know that by such actions (insulting and slandering rivals) they may be able to win small battles, but they may lose the main war.
JOMHURI-E ESLAMI writer believes that Turkey does not meet the requirements for assuming the leadership of the campaign for breaking the blockade on Gaza. Although Islamic nations have approved of the Turkish government’s actions and movements in relation to the developments in the Gaza Strip, it should be considered that Turkey is faced with some serious obstacles in its way to deal with the Zionist regime. The role of the military in Turkey’s power structure, its membership in NATO, and being a close ally of the United States are some barriers restricting practical steps in this regard. Turkey also needs the European states’ support in a bid to join the European Union, so we should not have high and unrealistic expectations of Ankara in dealing with the Zionist regime.
