West will only be satisfied if Iran freezes all nuclear activities: Mehmanparast

TEHRAN – Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast has said that the West will only be satisfied if Iran submits to its will and halt its nuclear program.
Iran is a member of the International Energy Agency (IAEA) and a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and thus it is committed not to pursue non-peaceful activities, Mehmanparst said on Wednesday. In over 21 reports, the IAEA has presented no proof of any diversion in Iran’s nuclear activities and therefore referral of Iran’s case to the UN Security Council was illegal, the spokesman added.
Pressure on Iran to give up its basic rights is part of a political ploy and any attempt to curb Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities is unlawful and irrational, he noted.
From technological point of view the nuclear energy is important for the progress of Iran and one of the most important steps toward progress is to attain advanced sciences, Mehmanparst explained.
“Iran has not borrowed its nuclear technology and that is why sanctions and constraints will have no effect on our progress,” he underlined.
By hastily passing the anti-Iran resolution, the U.S. wanted to divert the global attention from the Zionist regime’s atrocious assault on the freedom flotilla, Mehmanparst stated.
