TEHRAN – Imam Khomeini’s grandson Hassan Khomeini has donated 10 million tomans (US$10,000) for the flood victims of Pakistan.

Khomeini’s donation along with some others was presented to Pakistan's Ambassador to Iran Muhammad Bux Abbasi on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Abbasi thanked for the generous donations made by Hassan Khomeini and two other ladies and appreciated Iranian government’s efforts it is making to generate funds for the flood victims.
He said the gesture is reflective of strong bonds of friendship and fraternity between the two brotherly countries.
During his Eid al-Fitr address the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei called the devastating floods in Pakistan which have left about 21 million homeless the most urgent issue of the Islamic world and called for an immediate humanitarian assistance to Pakistan by Muslim nations and governments including Iran.
More than 80 percent of the millions of Pakistanis left homeless by the floods are still without shelter; 3.5 million children are at risk of water-born diseases like cholera, diarrhea, typhoid, and half a million pregnant women are at risk.
In another extraordinary gesture of sympathy with the flood victims of Pakistan, an Iranian lady made a donation of 5 million tomans (US$5,000), the money she had actually saved for the marriage of her son, a press release from the Embassy of Pakistan in Tehran stated.
Another Iranian lady, who did not want to reveal her identity, donated 250,000 tomans (US$250) for the flood victims in Pakistan.
The donations were delivered to Pakistani ambassador by Mr. Sirajuddin Mossavi, who is a former Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan.
He said the gesture is reflective of strong bonds of friendship and fraternity between the two Muslim and brotherly countries of Pakistan and Iran.
